Grinding Condiments In Your Eyes, Repetitively

HEY! YOU! YOU KNOW WHAT DAY IT IS?! GO VOTE!!!!! GO!

I'll wait.

You back? That was fun, right? Gotta love democracy. Alright. Tight. Let's continue.

The Artist: Yea Big and Kid Static
The Song: "Eatcho Samwich"
The Album: Eatcho Samwich

Fifteen Word Description: Glitchy, innovative hip-hop duo continues to take over the world with robots, funk, sex, and sandwiches.

Notesplosions: I'm excited as hell to finally get to plug a Yea Big/Kid Static number. I enjoyed the hell out of their self-titled debut, but unfortunately I also got on the bandwagon a little late to write any kind of notable review or recommendation. But now we got "Eatcho Samwich," so I don't need to stay quiet a day longer.

This Chicago duo stand out by injecting 50cc's of avant-garde glitch and business into their laid-back midwestern hip-hop. The effect is a sound that's been filtered through radios, televisions, and space satellites before landing at Kid Static's turntables; the beat is filled with cultural layers and whimsy before Yea Big ever lays down his rhymes. But, as "Eatcho Samwich" proves, the Big guy's got enough skill to make a whole three-minute track out of ruminations on the variety of available sandwiches. Coupled with the storytelling evidenced on their debut, this potential of this duo excites me tremendously.
